September is especially scenic with the early fall changing of the leaves. Plus, the summer crowds have thinned out!
It’s also home to diverse wildlife, and although I didn’t see all of them, I try to spot black-tailed deer, marmots, elk, mountain goats, and black bears (safely, of course!).
